Bet365 betting manager makes ₤ 213m in one year

In charge of betting firm Bet365 was paid more than ₤ 200m in simply one year, which is one of the most significant incomes ever granted in the UK.

The highest paid director of Bet365 Group, thought to be founder Denise Coates, earned a wage of ₤ 213.4 m in the year to March 2022.

She was also entitled to a minimum of half of ₤ 100m in dividends, despite a fall in profits.

Bet365 did not instantly react to the BBC's demand for remark.

But project groups such as the High Pay Centre struck out at the announcement, arguing it worked as a tip that "too much [cash] is going to too couple of individuals" in the UK economy.

Its representative Andrew Speke said: "It shows if the government desired to supply higher support to those having a hard time and increase the pay of striking public sector workers dealing with real wage cuts, increasing tax on high incomes and wealth would be among the most effective ways of funding this promotion code."

Labour MP Carolyn Harris, who co-chairs a cross-party parliamentary group examining gambling-related harm, said that losses made by users as rates are rising "are paying for the huge salaries of betting managers".

She called on the federal government to bring forward its white paper on gaming and update laws that have been in location for decades.

Ms Coates founded the Bet365 website in a portable structure in Stoke-on-Trent more than twenty years earlier. She is believed to be one of Britain's richest women and amongst the best-paid bosses on the planet.
